Disney World is no stranger to adjusting plans when safety is at stake, and that’s exactly what’s happening now.
With dangerous weather conditions rolling into Central Florida, Disney has officially issued a guest ban on certain activities across the resort. It’s not about ride closures or crowd control this time—this is all about fire safety.
On March 17, 2025, a Red Flag Warning was issued, meaning the weather is creating extremely high fire risk conditions. Dry air, strong winds, and warm temperatures are all coming together to make things a little too risky for comfort. With wind gusts hitting up to 30 mph, officials are concerned that even the smallest spark could lead to a dangerous situation. And when safety’s on the line, Disney doesn’t take any chances.
As a result, a burn ban is now in place across the resort. That means no campfires, no charcoal grilling, and no open flames anywhere on Disney property. If you’re staying at Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, this could definitely put a damper on your outdoor cooking plans, and yes, that means the beloved campfire sing-along is off the table for now.
If you were hoping to grill up a meal at your resort, you’ll need to find another option—though some gas grills may still be allowed (check with a Cast Member to be sure).
Disney is also urging guests to be extra careful when it comes to discarding cigarettes and parking vehicles. If you’re near dry grass, be mindful—even a hot car engine could pose a fire risk in these conditions.
Now, what about the big question—fireworks? Right now, Disney’s nighttime spectaculars at Magic Kingdom and EPCOT are still scheduled to go on. But here’s the thing—wind and fireworks don’t mix well. If gusts pick up too much, Disney could modify or even cancel the shows at the last minute. If you’re planning on catching the fireworks, check the My Disney Experience app or ask a Cast Member for updates, just in case things change.
So how long will this last? Right now, the burn ban is in effect from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., but that could change depending on the weather. If things stay dry and windy, expect the restrictions to stick around a little longer.
