The closure of Muppets Courtyard on June 8, 2025, marked a significant moment in Disney history. This area, once alive with the humor and antics of Kermit, Miss Piggy, and their friends, had become a cherished part of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Muppet*Vision 3D, the beloved attraction featuring puppet magic and interactive fun, was the centerpiece of this experience. It served not only as entertainment but also as a tribute to Jim Henson, making it particularly special for fans of all ages.

With its closure, many visitors and fans of the Muppets expressed their emotions online, sharing memories and nostalgia associated with the iconic characters. The reactions ranged from sadness to disbelief, as they reminisced about the delightful shows and experiences that once filled the courtyard. While some had anticipated this change, the goodbye felt more poignant than expected.

In place of the Muppets, a vibrant new land is on the horizon: Monstropolis. This ambitious project will transport guests directly into the whimsical world of Monsters, Inc. Drawing inspiration from the animated classic, Monstropolis promises to immerse visitors in a colorful city inhabited by fan-favorite characters such as Mike and Sulley.

As this transformation unfolds, demolition of the former Muppets Courtyard has continued to pick up steam. Heavy machinery has taken to the site, dismantling remnants of the beloved attraction. The Stage 1 Company Store, once a spot for Muppet-themed merchandise, was one of the first buildings to be demolished, indicating that significant changes are underway.

The completion of Monstropolis is projected for 2027, although Disney has not confirmed a specific opening date. This new chapter is designed to excite and captivate the audiences who will experience the whimsical world of Monsters, Inc.
