What was supposed to be a two-day fix has quietly stretched into nearly two weeks, leaving a popular Inside Out (2015) ride unavailable to Southern California Disney Park guests. Disneyland Resort still hasn’t explained why.
A Closure That Keeps Getting Extended
Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind has now been shut down for far longer than anyone anticipated. The Pixar Pier attraction at Disney California Adventure first went offline for routine refurbishment from January 5 through January 23, 2026 — standard enough that it barely registered as a concern among Disneyland Resort fans.
Then it happened again. The ride closed a second time on February 27, but the projected downtime seemed minor: just two days, with a scheduled return on March 1. That date came and went without a reopening.
As of Tuesday, March 10, the attraction is still dark. Disneyland Resort’s website currently lists Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind as reopening on Wednesday, March 11, but it also warns that the ride “is currently closed for refurbishment” and instructs guests to “please check back here for updates.” That disclaimer language typically signals that Disney doesn’t have a firm reopening date locked in.
According to MickeyVisit, the refurbishment calendar has been updated daily since March 1, pushing the projected reopening to the following day each time. The pattern has repeated every single day from March 1 through March 9, even though the attraction has not actually come back online.
No Explanation From Disneyland Resort
Disneyland Resort has stayed completely silent on what’s driving the delay. Whether the culprit is a technical malfunction, newly discovered damage, or something else entirely hasn’t been disclosed. Guests planning a visit to Pixar Pier should check the Disneyland Resort app before arrival and brace for the possibility that the rolling reopening date shifts again.
