Tom Sawyer Island, the Liberty Square Riverboat, and Rivers of America are also permanently closed to make room for the upcoming Piston Peak National Park. This new land promises new attractions, but for now, it means big chunks of the park are walled off.
Meanwhile, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad remains out of operation while Disney adds new effects to one of its most famous coasters. Tortuga Tavern is sitting quiet too—still technically open as a seating area but not actively serving food.
It’s Not Just Magic Kingdom
Across Disney World, similar closures are happening. Animal Kingdom is in the middle of its own seasonal and long-term changes. Harambe Market is down for refurbishment, Kali River Rapids is closed for its annual maintenance, and the park’s long-running It’s Tough to Be a Bug has been replaced by a Zootopia-themed show debuting soon.
At Hollywood Studios, Animation Courtyard is being reimagined, and the beloved Muppets area has been cleared to make way for a Monsters, Inc.-inspired space. Blizzard Beach is also closed for seasonal work, leaving Typhoon Lagoon as the only operating water park at the moment.
