With the current winter weather conditions in Southern California, more announcements are expected in the coming days.

Disneyland Park switches up its fireworks offerings seasonally, and this month’s scheduled nighttime spectacular is the popular “Believe…In Holiday Magic.” Unfortunately, at least four times in the last week, guests, some of whom had waited over an hour in prime viewing spots on Main Street, U.S.A., discovered that the fireworks would not take place as planned.

A Reddit user, u/CoasterCar, shared their experience after trying to view the “Believe…In Holiday Magic” show four times, only to be disappointed each time due to wind conditions. “4 Attempts at viewing the winter fireworks and all failed 😞,” the user posted alongside a photo of thousands of other disappointed Disney Park guests.

Impact on Disneyland’s Nighttime Entertainment Lineup

Disneyland Park has traditionally been limited in the frequency of its fireworks shows due to its proximity to residential neighborhoods. This limits the ability to schedule fireworks every night, unlike some other Disney parks. Strong winds during this time of year are a regular occurrence in Southern California, and they have further reduced Disneyland Park’s already limited nighttime entertainment offerings.

Several Disney Park guests on Reddit discussed how this weather-related issue is not unusual, but the lack of early communication about potential cancellations caused frustration.

“This has been my major complaint though is if they are seeing things wonky with the weather… start making announcements earlier instead of us losing a large chunk of the evening waiting for nothing,” said u/hutchi41.

Disneyland Resort typically makes a park-wide announcement when a show is canceled due to weather or other unforeseen conditions; however, many guests felt that the notifications could have been given sooner. There was no explicit warning for visitors who had already staked out viewing spots for the fireworks shows.

As for when fireworks shows will return to their regular schedule, Disneyland Resort has not yet provided a clear timeline for the rest of the holiday season. It is expected that more cancellations could occur in the coming days due to the ongoing weather patterns in Anaheim.
