Disney Goes “Anti-Magic Kingdom” With Newly-Opened Experience

If you’ve ever spent a summer afternoon sweating it out in Magic Kingdom, you know the struggle is real. The sun beats down, wait times stretch forever, and by lunchtime, you’re either hunting for shade or plotting your next escape to an indoor ride just for the AC.

Well, Disney has thrown guests a much-needed lifeline—and barely anyone’s talking about it yet.

Disney Just Quietly Opened a Chill-Out Zone

No, really. There’s now an actual air-conditioned space—completely indoors—where you can sit down and recharge, no strings attached. And we’re not talking about ducking into a gift shop to loiter near the fans. This is a dedicated, peaceful indoor area designed specifically for guests to rest and cool off.

It’s called Big Top Bash, and it’s tucked away in Storybook Circus behind the Big Top Souvenir Shop. What used to be a simple seating area has been transformed into a colorful and refreshing oasis—and it couldn’t have come at a better time.

What’s Inside the Big Top Bash?

Inside, you’ll find tables, chairs, coloring pages themed after Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, and best of all—blissful AC. No reservation, no need to buy anything, and no cast member giving you the side-eye if you stay too long. It’s all part of Disney’s seasonal “Cool Kid Summer” celebration, which includes character pop-ins and other fun surprises across all four parks.

It’s not a ride or a formal attraction, but honestly, when the heat is beating you down, a relaxing indoor space can feel just as magical.

Available Now Through the End of Summer

Disney plans to keep Big Top Bash open through the end of the “Cool Kid Summer” festivities, which wrap up on September 1, 2025. So if your trip to Magic Kingdom falls anytime this summer, don’t miss this underrated gem. It’s especially helpful for families with young kids who need a quiet place to unwind mid-day.

A Win for Everyone

There’s something refreshing—literally and figuratively—about this new spot. It might not come with thrill ride levels of excitement, but it’s the kind of thoughtful, low-key magic Disney does best. Parents get to rest, kids get to color, and everyone walks out a little happier (and a lot cooler).

So next time you find yourself overheating in the middle of Fantasyland, skip the frantic search for a shady bench. Head toward the Big Top. Your sweat glands will thank you.

Andrew Boardwine

A frequent visitor of Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Orlando Resort, Andrew will likely be found freefalling on Twilight Zone Tower of Terror or enjoying Pirates of the Caribbean. Over at Universal, he'll be taking in the thrills of the Jurassic World Velocicoaster and Revenge of the Mummy
