While Disney's Animal Kingdom may not boast the late-night spectaculars seen at Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, or Disney's Hollywood Studios, it has certainly captured plenty of attention this year. Following the closure of DinoLand U.S.A. attractions like TriceraTop Spin and Fossil Fun Games earlier this year, Disney confirmed that DINOSAUR will also “go extinct” after 2025. Guests hoping to take one last thrilling ride should visit before the attraction's final day.

These changes come as Disney Experiences moves forward with plans to introduce the vibrant new Tropical Americas-themed area called Pueblo Esperanza. This forthcoming destination will feature two exciting attractions inspired by Encanto and Indiana Jones, along with a charming woodcarver's carousel showcasing beloved Disney animals.

But it's not just DinoLand that's seeing updates—Animal Kingdom's park icon, the Tree of Life, is also undergoing a significant refresh. After more than two decades of delighting guests, It's Tough to be a Bug! permanently closed on March 16, paving the way for the highly anticipated Zootopia: Better Zoogether! show. This new experience is set to open later this year, just ahead of the release of Zootopia 2 on November 28, 2025.

“In addition to all this great news, I have another gift for you… ‘OH! OH! OH! OH! OH! TRY EVERYTHIIIIIING!' And now, you have Gazelle’s top hit from Zootopia stuck in your head,” Disney Parks Blog shared in late 2024.

The attraction will feature the return of Ginnifer Goodwin, reprising her role as the fearless and optimistic Judy Hopps from the Academy Award-winning film.

“But seriously, hold onto your hats (and your tails, feathers, or ears!) because I want to remind you about the all-new 4D production coming to the Tree of Life Theater in winter 2025 – Zootopia: Better Zoogether!” the blog post continued. “You’ll want to herd the whole family together to join Judy Hopps, Nick Wilde, and more for a new wild adventure that will make you want to clap your hands.”

Disney has already begun work on the updated attraction, filing new permits to move construction along. According to WDWMagic, “Walt Disney Imagineering has filed two new Notices of Commencement today for work at the Tree of Life Theater in Disney's Animal Kingdom for the upcoming Zootopia: Better Zoogether! [4D] attraction.” The report details that Elite A/V Systems Inc. will “install set elements” while Solotech has been enlisted to handle “electrical work.”

There is currently no confirmed opening date for Zootopia: Better Zoogether, but with progress moving swiftly, it seems Disney is eager to introduce this immersive new experience to guests as soon as possible.

Thomas Hitchen

When he’s not thinking about the Magic Kingdom, Thomas is usually reading a book, becoming desperately obsessed with fictional characters, or baking something delicious (his favorite is chocolate cake -- to bake and to eat). He's a dreamer and grew up on Mulan saving the world, Jim Hawkins soaring through the stars, and Padmé Amidala fighting a Nexu. At the Parks, he loves to ride Everest, stroll down Main Street with an overstuffed pin lanyard around his neck, and eat as many Mickey-shaped ice creams as possible. His favorite character is Han Solo (yes, he did shoot first), and his favorite TV show is Buffy the Vampire Slayer except when it's One Tree Hill. He loves sandy beach walks, forest hikes, and foodie days out in the Big City. Thomas lives in England, UK, with his fiancée, baby, and their dog, a Border Collie called Luna.
