Home Alone has cemented itself as a Christmas tradition for millions around the globe. Released in 1990, this family comedy directed by Chris Columbus and penned by John Hughes introduced audiences to Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin), an eight-year-old boy who is accidentally left behind when his family flies off for a holiday vacation.

While enjoying the freedom of having the house to himself, Kevin discovers that his home has become the target of two clumsy criminals, Harry (Joe Pesci) and Marv (Daniel Stern). Using his wit and resourcefulness, Kevin creates a series of elaborate traps to foil their plans, resulting in hilarity and heart-warming moments that have stood the test of time.

Though its sequel, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, is often celebrated as equally brilliant, the original remains a fan favorite. Its combination of humor, family values, and festive charm has made it a quintessential part of holiday viewing.

The McCallister house, with its grand architecture and Christmas charm, has become as iconic as the film itself. Previously available for rent through Airbnb, the house recently underwent a $5.25M renovation and is now on sale. While its interior scenes were shot on a soundstage, the home’s exterior has long been an enduring symbol of the movie’s magic.

Now, Disney+ has brought Home Alone to life with an immersive event in Shoreditch, London. The all-new Home Alone experience allows fans to explore detailed recreations of the McCallister living room, staircase, and master bedroom. Each area is decked out with festive holiday decorations, creating a nostalgic atmosphere. Guests can also pose with props inspired by Kevin’s famous traps, with professional photographers ensuring visitors leave with memories to cherish.

For those unable to attend, the complete Home Alone collection is available for streaming on Disney+. Whether rewatching the original or enjoying its sequels, fans can relive Kevin’s antics from the comfort of their homes.
