The Walt Disney Company company is ramping up its focus on its iconic Disney Villains.
The latest update comes just one day after Walt Disney World Resort confirmed the opening date for Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The show was teased by Walt Disney Imagineering last year, but now Disney has officially set the grand opening date for May 27, 2025.
But this is just the beginning of the Disney Villains expansion at Walt Disney World Resort. At D23 Expo 2024, Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Experiences, confirmed that Disney Imagineers were working on a concept that was initially a “blue sky” idea: a Disney Villains land at Magic Kingdom Park. This new land will feature all-new attractions, shops, and dining locations, all inspired by Disney’s most nefarious characters.
Though the opening date for this land is still under wraps, it will take over unused space beyond “Big Thunder Mountain Railroad,” adding a vast new area to Magic Kingdom Park’s footprint. But if you can’t wait to welcome the Disney Villains into your life, there’s more exciting news.
During the Nintendo Direct on Thursday, March 27, Disney dropped a surprise announcement—“Disney Villains Cursed Café,” an all-new video game that is now available for purchase!
The game, available on Xbox, Steam, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch, lets players step into the shoes of “Potion-ista,” serving up magical concoctions to some of Disney’s most notorious Villains, including Ursula, Jafar, Cruella de Vil, Gaston, Maleficent, Captain Hook, and The Evil Queen. Players can even team up with Yzma, who helps them find rare upgraded ingredients to brew more potent potions.
The game’s storyline revolves around Potion-ista crafting elixirs that influence the fate and ambitions of these Villains. Each Disney Villain has a specific request, and the choices players make while selecting ingredients can change the outcome of their story. For $14.99, players can forever change the destinies of the most mischievous characters on earth.
