Disney Magic Your Way Packages 101 – How To Choose Which One Is Right For You

So you have finally decided to take a trip to the “Happiest Place on Earth” and now you need to get busy planning and booking all of the magic. For the most part, Disney makes it very easy for you to plan this all, no matter your budget, dates, or size of your party. All you need to know is what some of your options are when you book a Magic Your Way vacation package through Disney.

4. Length of Stay – It’s important to know that Disney likes you to stay for longer than 5 days. And who wouldn’t want to do that, right? While you will certainly have options for stays that are shorter, they will sometimes have offers that add in “free” days with so many paid days. We have used this option many times to extend our vacation and it’s a great way to make the magic last. When you begin to book, make sure you see if this is an option. It is included when booking the Magic Your Way packages.

3. Hotel Budget – The dreaded B word when we go to Disney is budget. I don’t like to think about budget when we are on vacation, so I love that I can plan and pay every part of that (minus souvenirs) with the Magic Your Way choices. The best thing about this package is that it takes into account everyone’s budget needs. You can pick from value resorts all the way to Deluxe Resorts and Villas. All of these choices have some different options to make your vacation even more special. Once you have picked your hotel, you can also pick room type and location. You could choose to be closer to the pool or courtyard or picked a themed room, like the Pirate rooms at Caribbean Beach Resort. The good news is, there will be something that fits your budget when it comes to hotels on property. Remember that staying on property comes with many perks, like free transportation to all the parks and other hotels, early or late magical hours at the parks and free package deliveries to your hotel if you don’t want to carry your souvenirs around the park.

2. Types of Tickets – After deciding how long you will stay and in what hotel, then you will want to pick the best ticket choice. The choices include visiting one park per day, park-hopper tickets, and water parks and more tickets. We really enjoy the park-hopper tickets because you can go to different parks throughout the day. When we visit in the summer, we usually opt for the water parks and more ticket option. It allows us visits to the water parks, for when we feel like we will melt in the Florida heat and it also gives us the ability to play mini-golf, regular golf and visits to DisneyQuest…the ultimate arcade in Downtown Disney. Which ticket you pick will be based on how many days you will be there, who you are traveling with and what time of year you visit. If you are with toddlers or going in the winter, the water park tickets probably aren’t the best choice. But the best thing about the Magic Your Way package is that you can decide.

1. Disney Dining Plans – When you choose a Magic Your Way package, you will have the choice to pick a dining plan also. The dining plan may not be right for everyone, but make sure to at least check it out. We have vacationed a few times without it and now we will make sure to always use it. If it looks like it works for you, then you get to pick which one has the best options for your family. The first choice is the Quick Service plan. It comes with 2 quick service meals a day plus a snack, per person. This is great if you don’t have big eaters or don’t want to spend time on character meals. This meal plan will get you in and out and back to the park quickly. Make sure that when you are at the quick service restaurants, that you pay attention to the dessert options. This comes with most meals and people forget to grab it. We usually get things we can take on the go and eat later, like rice crispy treats or cookies. The next options up from that one are different variations of meal plans that include table service meals, including most character dining experiences. This is the meal plan we get now every time. We have growing boys who love the all you can eat buffets and still love getting a picture with characters. These different options can go from one table service and one quick service meal, to all 3 table service meals with additional perks included. It is definitely something to check out when booking your Magic Your Way plan.

Once you have booked your package, then you can book dining reservations and plan your FastPass+ choices for the dates and parks you choose. I love that I can have my vacation all planned and ready for us and then all we have to do is put on our Mickey ears and have fun!
