Disney has always been a master at turning classic animated films into live-action franchises (The Lion King being one of the best examples of recent years), but it seems one of their latest ventures involves doing the complete opposite.
The upcoming Lion King-themed area at Disneyland Paris promises to be an unforgettable experience, but what’s most exciting is that Disney has seemingly decided to lean into the iconic 1994 animated film rather than the more recent live-action blockbuster films, The Lion King (2019), and its prequel, Mufasa: The Lion King (2024).
Disneyland Paris’ latest venture is part of a massive €2 billion investment aimed at revitalizing the park. The second park, Walt Disney Studios Park, soon to be named Disney Adventure World, will become home to the all-new Lion King area, which will bring the lush, vibrant world of the Pride Lands to life like never before.

“When the sun rises on this realm after the grand opening of World of Frozen, an all-new attraction blending a spectacular water experience with state-of-the-art Audio-Animatronics® technology will plunge guests into the heart of the Pride Lands, where Simba will await them for an unforgettable adventure complete with iconic songs from the 1994 masterpiece,” the official description for the Lion King ride from Disneyland Paris News reads.
It adds: “After making their way to the caves beneath the 37-meter-high Pride Rock, guests will embark on a wondrous, and sensational adventure through iconic scenes and sceneries from the beloved animated movie, navigating a path with three exciting slopes, including an impressive 16-meter-high descent. With a seamless blend of many Audio-Animatronics® figures scattered across a highly detailed environment coming to life thanks to state-of-the-art special effects and an unforgettable soundtrack, this attraction will be one of the biggest at Disneyland Paris!”
What's even more exciting for longtime fans of The Lion King (1994) is the apparent decision to design this area using the distinct aesthetic of the 1994 film.
