Future of Disney’s Newest Attraction Revealed After Running Over “Small” Guest

One of Disney’s newest attractions has just been caught on video running over what seemed to be the smallest guest aboard, and here is why every guest in the ride vehicle did nothing wrong.

One issue that we have seen in the past is guests jumping out of their ride vehicle to retrieve a lost item; when this happens, guests are put at risk as the ride vehicle could hit them, or they could injure themselves on the track without any cast member supervision or instruction.

On a recent visit to Disneyland, Jacie (@jaciekay) rode the new Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway in Toontown, where she recorded a guest losing their Lotso toy from the Toy Story films during the dance sequence with Daisy. In the video, Jacie jokes that this is how Lotso’s villain origin story was developed, as she films the ride vehicles leave behind the plush toy.

What was great about this video was that no one jumped out of the ride vehicle to retrieve Lotso.

During a recent ride on Zootopia: Hot Pursuit in Shanghai Disneyland, we saw one child jump out of the ride vehicle to pick up a pair of Minnie Mouse ears that fell off of their head. Like Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, Zootopia: Hot Pursuit is a trackless ride, meaning that the tracks to the attraction are not visible to guests, making it tough to predict what direction you will be moving next.

While this is a fun feature for riders as it leaves the attraction feeling less predictable and much smoother, it makes it very hard for anyone who would have jumped out of the ride to know where the ride vehicle was heading next.

In the case of the child on Zootopia: Hot Pursuit, they were sadly pinned under the attraction vehicle. Thankfully, we did not hear of any severe injuries, but we did see Shanghai Disneyland double down on signage that reminded guests to stay in their ride vehicles at all times. This was certainly not the only instance of a guest jumping out of their ride vehicle to retrieve an item, but a good example of the bad that can come from breaking the rules.

One thing that fans have been wondering is, why did the ride not stop?

Shira said, “I am just wondering why the ride did not stop for a potential path obstruction?” and The fairy god bro said, “I’m really surprised the ride safety systems didn’t reset the whole entire ride for having a foreign object on the track.”

Overall, there was certainly concern as to why the ride did not stop. The floors of the ride are not censored to stop if a light object falls to the ground, and it is something that likely had to be done manually. The video is just a few seconds long, so it is likely that the ride would have come to a stop afterwards, so that a cast member could retrieve Lotso.

But, as we saw on Zootopia: Hot Pursuit, even if a whole child jumps out of the ride vehicle, the attraction did not stop until the child was stuck underneath it, leaving it unable to move. So, if you were ever planning on jumping out of a ride to grab something that fell, just know that that does not mean the ride will be stopping for you, and serious injuries could be what follows.

The ride itself seemed to not be affected by Lotso, as it is fully operational. Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway recently went under a change, with Disney adding in slim seat dividers that were quickly removed after backlash from guests.

Cast members will collect whatever lost items they can, which will be brought to the lost and found at the front of the park each day.

Have you ever lost something on a Disney attraction? What was the outcome?
