Disney Rolls Out MAJOR Guardians of the Galaxy Coaster Update, and Fans Are Obsessed

Disney has a reputation for updates that spark excitement, and EPCOT just saw proof of how powerful those tweaks can be.

A few days ago, Disney World made a tiny adjustment to Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, which sent fans rushing to the park. What happened next made it clear—this is something people want to last.

Cosmic Rewind’s Massive Revamp

When Cosmic Rewind launched in 2022, it instantly became one of the most unique attractions Disney World has ever built. The ride doesn’t just take you on a coaster—it spins, launches, and pulls you into a storyline with the Guardians crew. What makes it shine even brighter is the music. Much like the films, the soundtrack transforms the experience into a cosmic jam session.

Fans often compare it to California’s Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! ride. While the drop tower is thrilling in its own right, Cosmic Rewind’s music and smooth track layout make it a completely different experience—more like being in the middle of a music video than a freefall.

The Ultimate Takeover

On September 21, Disney decided to have some fun. Cosmic Rewind cycled through only one track for the entire day: Earth, Wind & Fire’s “September.” The results were nothing short of electric.

Guests poured into EPCOT to be part of the moment, waiting in line for up to 175 minutes to ride with the 70s classic blasting in the background. The energy was contagious, and the day felt less like an experiment and more like a major park event.

Why It Shouldn’t Be One-and-Done

Fans immediately started asking Disney to make the change stick. A single day wasn’t enough. Many suggested the takeover run through September, spreading out crowds and letting more people experience the magic. For Disney, that could mean more visits and happier guests without overhauling the ride.

The reaction shows just how powerful the right song can be. Fans didn’t just like the update—they loved it. And if they were willing to wait almost three hours in line for it, imagine how much excitement a recurring soundtrack tradition could bring.

Expanding the Idea

What if Disney pushed the concept further? Beyond “September,” Cosmic Rewind could spotlight other tracks for limited times. Rock-inspired holiday songs could run during December. 70s and 80s favorites like “Don’t Stop Me Now,” “Take On Me,” or “Holding Out for a Hero” could headline weekend specials.

Even tying in more songs from the Guardians soundtracks would make the ride feel fresh for repeat visitors. Each variation could become its own mini-event, much like EPCOT’s food and wine festivals keep fans returning year after year.

Listening to the Crowd

The formula is simple: give fans what they’re asking for. The September 21 experiment proved how one song could surge demand. Making it a tradition—or building out more music-centered overlays—would only strengthen Cosmic Rewind’s place as a must-do EPCOT attraction.

A Change Worth Keeping

Disney may have considered the “September” event a one-day nod, but fans saw it as something bigger. They don’t just want a soundtrack swap but a new tradition.

The message is clear: Cosmic Rewind is already a star, and these musical tweaks could make it legendary.
