Guests expecting a relaxing evening of shopping and dining at Disney Springs instead encountered an unusual sight Thursday night as an entire retail building was suddenly closed off during an emergency response.
The incident happened on June 25, when firefighters responded to what appeared to be a reported fire alarm at the popular Walt Disney World destination. Within a short time, Disney Cast Members blocked access to the building, while emergency crews searched the area and guests were directed elsewhere.
Although the closure lasted only temporarily and the stores have since reopened, seeing one of Disney Springs' busiest shopping buildings completely shut down caught many visitors by surprise.

Emergency Response Draws Attention
Disney Springs welcomes thousands of guests every day, making it rare for an entire shopping complex to become inaccessible.
Inside the Magic observed fire trucks parked near the transportation area normally used by Disney Resort buses. Firefighters could also be seen walking through the affected building while investigating the situation.
Outside, Cast Members were stationed around the entire perimeter, preventing guests from entering through any of the building's entrances. Rather than allowing visitors to wait nearby, they redirected foot traffic around the closure until first responders finished their work.
The emergency presence quickly attracted attention, with many guests stopping to see what was happening.
Eleven Stores Went Dark
The closure affected every retailer inside the building, temporarily bringing business to a halt.
Those locations included:
- Under Armour
- vineyard vines
- Everywhere But Water
- Disney Vacation Club
- Fabletics
- Kendra Scott
- UNOde50
- Disney Ever After
- Anthropologie
- Pura Vida
- L'Occitane en Provence
For many visitors, the closure interrupted shopping plans at one of Disney Springs' most popular retail locations. The building combines Disney-operated shopping with several well-known national brands, making it a busy destination throughout the day and into the evening.

No Official Cause Has Been Confirmed
While the emergency response was impossible to miss, Disney has not confirmed exactly what caused it.
There were no obvious signs of smoke, flames, or exterior damage visible from outside the building during the incident. Because of that, it remains unknown whether firefighters responded to an actual fire, a malfunctioning alarm, or another issue requiring investigation.
Even without confirmation, Disney's decision to close the entire building underscores how seriously the resort approaches potential safety concerns. Rather than keeping portions of the building open, access was restricted until firefighters completed their walkthrough.
No injuries have been reported in connection with the incident.
Normal Operations Quickly Returned
Fortunately, guests did not have to wait long before the shopping district returned to normal.
Once firefighters completed their investigation, Cast Members removed the barricades and all affected stores reopened to guests. Shopping resumed as normal later that evening, ending what had been an unexpected disruption at Disney Springs.
Although the exact reason for Thursday night's alarm remains unclear, closing an entire retail building housing 11 businesses is an uncommon occurrence. If Disney provides additional information, it should offer more insight into what prompted the emergency response and why such a significant section of Disney Springs was temporarily taken out of operation.
