Walt Disney World Resort has confirmed that multiple guest amenities at one of its Deluxe Villa Resort hotel properties are now offline, and the closure is expected to stretch through the end of April.
What’s Closing and for How Long
Effective March 5, the South Point Pool and Spa, BBQ area, and playground at Disney’s Old Key West Resort are all closed for refurbishment. Walt Disney World Resort’s own website lists the affected areas, with a projected reopening of “late April 2026” — roughly two months away.

Guests staying at the Central Florida Disney Resort during that window may notice some disruption. Walt Disney World acknowledges that visitors could “see or hear maintenance activity” during daytime hours. However, the resort says it aims to keep construction noise within waking hours, when most overnight guests are typically out at Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, or Disney Springs. Anyone with concerns or questions should stop by the Front Desk.
In the meantime, Disney Resort guests are being pointed toward the Sandcastle Pool or the hotel’s two other leisure pools — the Turtle Pond Pool and Miller’s Road Pool — as alternatives.
The Latest Project at Disney’s Old Key West Resort

This closure doesn’t come out of nowhere. Disney’s Old Key West has been cycling through a series of maintenance projects, with the Turtle Pond Pool, Spa, BBQ area, and playground all going offline for several weeks earlier this year for similar routine work.
Beyond the pools, the Disney Resort hotel’s Table-Service restaurant, Olivia’s Cafe, recently received a decor refresh. Disney removed hundreds of personal family vacation photos that Disney Vacation Club members had displayed there over the years, a decision that drew significant pushback from DVC owners who call Old Key West their home resort.
Room refurbishments are also ongoing throughout the property, with Disney rolling out updates in stages to minimize disruption to hotel guests.
