Disney World Confirms Pirate Band for New Magic Kingdom Halloween Offering

Disney just released new details on its Captain Jack Sparrow offering, and the first Halloween party of the year opens in a matter of hours.

Today is the day.

Look, Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party kicks off tonight. Months of announcements, showtime drops, ticket sellouts, and the annual argument about celebrating Halloween in 95-degree heat, and here we are. Magic Kingdom turns over to the party this evening.

Opening night hits different every year. Costumes all over Main Street, U.S.A. Trick-or-treat trails are going live for the first time. The season's first Mickey's Boo-To-You Parade. And this year, two brand new offerings are debuting, which means nobody walking through those gates tonight actually knows what they are about to see.

One of them is in Adventureland, and the details just landed.

The Halloween Offering

It is officially called Captain Jack's Buccaneer Bash.

The setup is a recruitment mission. Disney says Captain Jack Sparrow has come to port looking for new crew members and plans to teach them how to be pirates, calling the whole thing a “gallant quest.”

That quest includes a salty pirate band, daring jugglers, and sailor superstitions folded into the performance.

And this is key: it is interactive, not a stage show. You learn pirate customs alongside the character rather than standing there watching. Pirate music, comedy, audience participation, the works.

Location is outside Tortuga Tavern in Adventureland.

Now About That Band

Here is the detail veteran party guests have been chasing.

Rusty Cutlass has been the Adventureland pirate band at past Halloween parties and became a genuine fixture over there. When Disney first teased this Captain Jack thing back in June, there was no name, no format, and no clarity on whether Rusty Cutlass would survive alongside it or get pushed out.

The new description says “salty pirate band.” It does not say Rusty Cutlass.

Same crew, new name? Totally different group? The wording will not tell you. What is guaranteed is live pirate music in Adventureland tonight.

The Showtimes Are Not Showtimes

This changes how you plan the night.

Back when Rusty Cutlass held the spot, it had actual showtimes in the My Disney Experience app. Pick a time, plan around it, done.

Captain Jack's Buccaneer Bash has a window instead. 7 p.m. to 12 a.m.

Which reads like continuous entertainment with short breaks rather than a set schedule. Meaning you do not have to structure your evening around it. Wander through Adventureland at some point, and it should be going.

Completely different from Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular, which runs at 9:05 p.m., 10:35 p.m., and midnight, and absolutely requires planning.

The Other New Thing

Adventureland is not alone.

Stitch's Masquerade Mashup debuts at the Rockettower Plaza Stage over in Tomorrowland.

Same participation-first approach. Stitch, Lilo, and Angel are trying to pick the perfect Halloween costume and want help deciding. Music, interactive games, video elements, dancing, costumes, and candy giveaways.

Both new offerings run all 38 party dates from August 7 through October 31. Good news if you are booking months ahead, because you do not have to target a specific night to catch either.

Everything Else on the Halloween Schedule

Nothing got cut for these. The lineup this year:

Mickey's Boo-To-You Halloween Parade

Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular

Disney's Not-So-Spooky Spectacular fireworks

Cadaver Dans Barbershop Quartet

Captain Jack's Buccaneer Bash

Stitch's Masquerade Mashup

Throw in trick-or-treating, rare character meets, party-exclusive food, themed merch, and lighter attraction waits, and that is the whole pitch.

Tickets

Considering a later date? Do not sit on it.

Eight dates are already gone. August 7, 11, 14, 18, and 21. September 4 and 8. October 9, 13, and 31.

Tonight was one of the first to sell out. Halloween night is gone too, which happens like clockwork every year now.

Plenty of nights remain open, but they thin out as the season rolls on, especially weekends and anything near October. Disney keeps availability updated on the official event purchase page.

If You Are In Tonight

Since the Buccaneer Bash runs continuously, treat it as something you run into instead of an appointment. Save the tight planning for the parade, the Spelltacular, and the fireworks, all of which have hard start times.

And keep in mind, everything you see tonight is happening for the first time ever. Worth being there for, even though new offerings almost always sharpen up as the season goes on.

Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party runs select nights August 7 through October 31, 2026.
