Next month is shaping up to be one of the wildest stretches of the summer at Disney World.
The parks are already busy thanks to school breaks and vacation season, but Disney is adding a massive Fourth of July celebration on top of all of that. Between expanded fireworks, special entertainment, patriotic overlays, and exclusive offerings, guests heading to Walt Disney World in early July should expect the resort to feel completely different than it normally does.
And honestly, some of these changes are bigger than people realize.

Magic Kingdom is once again taking center stage for Independence Day celebrations. Disney confirmed that Disney’s Celebrate America! — A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky will return this year, but there’s a twist. Instead of limiting the fireworks to one night, Disney is running the spectacular across three nights during the holiday weekend.
Guests visiting on July 3rd, July 4th, or July 5th will all have the chance to see the show.
That’s a huge deal because Fourth of July crowds at Magic Kingdom have become legendary over the years. Guests often line up hours in advance for fireworks viewing spots, and some areas of the park become difficult to walk through by nighttime.
Disney may be hoping the expanded schedule helps relieve some of that pressure.
The fireworks themselves are expected to remain one of the most over-the-top shows Disney offers annually. Main Street, U.S.A. becomes packed with patriotic decorations while fireworks completely fill the sky above Cinderella Castle.
But EPCOT may quietly become the biggest winner during the holiday celebration.
Disney is adding patriotic lighting effects to Spaceship Earth and featuring Voices of Liberty performances throughout the celebration period. EPCOT has increasingly become a favorite park for holiday events because it gives guests more room to spread out compared to Magic Kingdom.

For families wanting a slightly calmer experience, EPCOT could end up being the better choice.
Disney is also bringing back special holiday entertainment and limited-time food offerings around the resort. Seasonal snacks have become a huge part of Disney vacations lately, and guests should expect plenty of Fourth of July-themed desserts and drinks throughout the parks and hotels.
The Electrical Water Pageant will also be part of the celebration.
That’s especially interesting because Disney has started putting more focus on nostalgic entertainment offerings recently. Longtime Disney fans tend to love seeing classic experiences get attention again, especially during major events like this.
Another major addition arrives before the holiday weekend officially begins.
Disney announced a two-hour ABC special called Disney Celebrates America: The Pursuit of Happiness that will air on June 29th. The special will feature Disney Parks locations while celebrating American history, traditions, and innovation.
It’s not often Disney creates an event this large around a patriotic celebration, which is why many fans think this year’s Fourth of July festivities may feel much bigger than previous years.

Of course, all of this means one thing for guests planning trips next month: crowds are going to explode.
Magic Kingdom especially could become extremely difficult to navigate during peak hours. Ride wait times will likely climb fast, nighttime entertainment areas will fill early, and mobile ordering windows may disappear quickly during meal times.
Even EPCOT could experience much heavier crowds than normal because of the anniversary offerings.
Still, there’s something special about Disney World during major holiday celebrations. The parks feel more energetic, nighttime entertainment becomes more emotional, and the entire resort takes on a unique atmosphere that only happens a few times each year.
And next month, Disney appears ready to go all in.
