Walt Disney World Resort recently embarked on some mysterious construction outside the Crystal Palace, a character dining location near Cinderella Castle and Main Street, U.S.A., at the Magic Kingdom. Here's what we know about this latest project at the original Central Florida Disney park.
Project Outside Crystal Palace at Magic Kingdom Park
On August 26, WDWNT reported that Walt Disney World Resort had poured some new concrete on a walkway outside the Crystal Palace at Magic Kingdom Park. The outlet shared a photo of the affected area on social media:
The news comes after Walt Disney World Resort blocked this area with rolling planters and construction walls last month. Magic Kingdom Park guests watched as Disney cast members slowly cleared the land before installing a new curb in the space. The concrete now visible fills the cleared ground within that curb.
The new sidewalk area extends the pavement near the Crystal Palace slightly, potentially to provide more space for Magic Kingdom Park guests waiting to dine at the Table-Service restaurant or serve as a stroller parking area for families eating there. It's unclear exactly what Walt Disney World Resort intends to do with the space, though.
As with most minor construction projects, Walt Disney World Resort has not publicly acknowledged the new section of sidewalk outside the Crystal Palace at Magic Kingdom Park.
Other than the rolling planters and construction walls, the experience at the Crystal Palace has remained unaffected by the ongoing project. The Winnie the Pooh-themed character dining location has continued to accept reservations and operate normally throughout this outside pavement work.
