Walt Disney World Resort has filed a new construction permit for Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room, the audio-animatronic show in Adventureland at Magic Kingdom Park. Then known as Tropical Serenade, the show was an original feature of the Most Magical Place on Earth when it opened on October 1, 1971.
Construction Permit for Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room
On September 16, Walt Disney World Resort filed a Notice of Commencement for construction at an address in Adventureland, previously associated with Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room. The permit contracts Disney's in-house contractor, Buena Vista Construction Company, as the party completing the work.
The permit simply notifies the Orange County Comptroller's Office that Buena Vista Construction Company will “provide labor, material and/or electrical for construction.” Like most construction permits at Walt Disney World Resort, the filing expires in one year.
What Disney World Guests Can Expect
Although Walt Disney World Resort didn't give away much information in the Notice of Commencement, there's enough there to make some assumptions.
Because this is a Buena Vista Construction Company permit, Disney Parks fans can assume that the Central Florida vacation destination is simply planning maintenance for the nearly 55-year-old Adventureland attraction. Permits associated with major updates, story changes, or ride reimaginings are almost always filed by Walt Disney Imagineering, not Buena Vista Construction Company or Walt Disney World Resort‘s Facility Assets Management team.
Walt Disney World Resort hasn't announced any plans to reimagine or update Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room. The official webpage for the Adventureland attraction doesn't list any upcoming refurbishment closures, so Magic Kingdom Park guests can continue to add the audio-animatronic show to their vacation itineraries.
