Another change has officially arrived at Disney's BoardWalk Inn as Walt Disney World continues updating the popular resort.
For several weeks, guests knew work was coming to one of the resort's most visible outdoor spaces. Disney even established a closure window that stretched into early September.
The project didn't take nearly that long.
Disney has reopened the area earlier than planned, revealing a fresh replacement that guests staying at the resort can already experience.
A Familiar BoardWalk Area Gets Refreshed
The latest project centered on the Village Green at Disney's BoardWalk Inn and Villas.
Disney closed the courtyard on August 10, beginning a refurbishment that was originally scheduled to last until September 4. That closure temporarily took away a space used for several activities around the resort.
However, Disney managed to complete the work more than a week early.
The Village Green is now open again, and the biggest difference is easy to spot once guests step into the courtyard.
The older artificial grass has been removed and replaced.
New Turf Arrives at Disney's BoardWalk Inn
Disney installed a new synthetic surface across the Village Green, replacing the worn artificial grass that previously covered the lawn.
The result is a brighter green appearance throughout the courtyard.
The Village Green plays a bigger role in the BoardWalk experience than simply providing another place for guests to walk or relax. Disney uses the area for several scheduled resort activities.
That meant its August closure required those activities to temporarily find new homes.
Movie Under the Stars, yoga, and crafts were relocated elsewhere around the resort while the Village Green remained unavailable. With the project now complete, those offerings can return to their usual location.
Finishing early also removes a construction inconvenience for guests staying at the resort during the final days of August and beginning of September.
More BoardWalk Work Is Still Coming
The reopening doesn't mark the end of Disney's ongoing work at BoardWalk Inn and Villas.
Disney's broader refurbishment is scheduled to continue through late 2026, and another round of work will follow in early 2027.
The next significant closure begins January 11, when the Luna Park Pool, Luna Park Crazy Play Area, and Leaping Horse Libations are scheduled to become unavailable for routine maintenance.
That work is expected to continue through April 2027. Disney plans to keep both the Villas Pool and Inn Pool open, giving resort guests alternatives during the closure.
In the meantime, guests can once again enjoy the Village Green without construction getting in the way.
Disney may not have completely reinvented the courtyard, but it has officially replaced one of its most prominent features. Better yet for upcoming BoardWalk guests, the new turf arrived considerably sooner than originally expected.
