If Disney’s Hollywood Studios is on your itinerary for Tuesday, October 20, 2026, there is one detail worth checking before you set an alarm tonight. The park will close to day guests at 5 p.m. so it can host a private evening event, cutting four hours from its usual 9 p.m. close.
The good news is that the morning runs exactly as normal. The challenge is fitting a full Hollywood Studios day into a much tighter window. Here is how Tuesday is expected to unfold and what you can do to plan around it.

The Schedule for Tuesday, October 20
Early Theme Park Entry begins at 8:30 a.m. for guests staying at eligible Disney Resort hotels, and the park opens to all ticketed guests at 9 a.m. From there, regular operations continue until 5 p.m.
At that point, Hollywood Studios becomes a private venue. Anyone who is not attending the evening event will be asked to head toward the exit. For most guests, that adds up to an eight-hour visit at a park many people treat as a full-day commitment.
Why the Park Is Closing Early
The private event is part of the Gartner IT Symposium/Xpo 2026, a large technology conference that opened on Monday, October 19, at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin. The conference continues through Thursday, October 22.
Gartner has reserved Hollywood Studios for conference attendees on Tuesday evening, giving them use of the park outside its public operating hours. With attendees already on property and the conference underway, the event is going ahead as planned.
This is familiar territory for Gartner, which arranged a similar early-closure evening at Hollywood Studios in October 2023.

Building Your Day Around a 5 P.M. Close
With less time to work with, the order in which you tackle attractions matters more than usual. Head first to the park’s most in-demand rides: Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, Slinky Dog Dash, Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets, and The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.
Many guests rely on the drop in wait times that typically arrives in the evening to catch up on rides they missed earlier. That will not be an option on Tuesday, so it is better to front-load your priorities and treat the afternoon as bonus time.
Evening entertainment is also affected. Fantasmic! is not scheduled for regular day guests on October 20, and an after-dark visit to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will not be possible either.
Should You Switch Days?
If the nighttime experience was the main reason for your visit, it may make more sense to move things around. Guests with flexible plans could spend Tuesday at another Walt Disney World park and visit Hollywood Studios later in the week instead.
Keep in mind that the early closure could send some guests to Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, or Disney’s Animal Kingdom on Tuesday evening. How noticeable that shift will be is hard to predict, but it is worth factoring in if you plan to park-hop.

A Look at Past Park Buyouts
Corporate buyouts have a long history at Walt Disney World. One of the more memorable examples took place on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, when Hollywood Studios closed early for attendees of the SAP Sapphire & ASUG Annual Conference Orlando. That conference ran June 3 to 5 at the Orange County Convention Center, and its private park event featured a concert by Maroon 5.
Day guests that June had a very similar experience to what is planned for Tuesday, with a normal 9 a.m. opening followed by an early close.
The SAP Sapphire event has since rotated through other parks. EPCOT hosted attendees in 2025 with Zac Brown Band, and Magic Kingdom took its turn in May 2026, when Dave Matthews Band closed out the conference.
October Hours Are Already Shifting
Tuesday’s closure lands during a month when park hours are already in flux. Halloween events and other special occasions are affecting access to certain parks across Walt Disney World throughout October. It is a useful reminder that published hours can change and that a park ticket does not always guarantee access for a park’s full usual operating day.

What This Means for You
If you are visiting Hollywood Studios on Tuesday, arrive for Early Theme Park Entry at 8:30 a.m. if you are eligible, or be at the gates for 9 a.m. general admission. Prioritize the headline attractions and plan to be on your way out before 5 p.m.
If Fantasmic! or Galaxy’s Edge at night was the centerpiece of your plans, consider moving Hollywood Studios to a different day this week. Either way, check the official Walt Disney World park calendar and the My Disney Experience app on Tuesday morning, since hours and entertainment schedules can change with little notice.
