Visiting Disney World can put a serious dent in your wallet, and October visitors have another expense to think about before heading into the parks.
Disney's Lightning Lane service promises shorter waits at popular attractions, but the convenience comes at a price. On certain dates this month, families could spend more than $150 just to purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass for one day.
And that's before adding any separate Lightning Lane purchases.
With Halloween crowds arriving and prices changing throughout the month, guests might want to reconsider whether skipping the regular standby lines is worth the extra money.
Disney World Lightning Lane Prices Climb Throughout October
Disney World offers Lightning Lane Multi Pass as a paid option for guests who want shorter waits at participating attractions. Prices vary by park and visit date, meaning families could pay significantly more for the same service depending on when they visit.
Multiple dates through October 24 feature especially expensive pricing across Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney's Hollywood Studios, and Disney's Animal Kingdom.
For families already paying for tickets, meals, and other vacation expenses, those additional costs can quickly add up. And with Lightning Lane Single Pass attractions requiring separate purchases, the final bill could climb even higher.
And some parks are charging considerably more than others.
Magic Kingdom Visitors Face the Highest Prices
Magic Kingdom has the most expensive Lightning Lane Multi Pass prices among Disney World's four theme parks.
On October 10, 11, 16, 17, and 24, the service costs $39 per person. A family of four would spend $156 before taxes.
October 9, 12, and 14 aren't much better, with prices reaching $37 per person.
However, October 22 offers some relief. Multi Pass drops to $29 per guest, saving a family of four $40 compared to the highest-priced dates.
Guests interested in additional Lightning Lane access must also consider TRON Lightcycle / Run, which costs between $20 and $23 for Single Pass access, and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, priced between $13 and $15.
Those purchases aren't included with Multi Pass.

Hollywood Studios Isn't Much Cheaper
Families visiting Disney's Hollywood Studios won't necessarily find a better deal.
On October 9, 10, 16, and 17, Lightning Lane Multi Pass reaches $37 per person. That works out to $148 for four guests.
Fortunately, prices fall to $27 on October 20 and 21.
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance also requires a separate Single Pass purchase for Lightning Lane access, priced at $22 to $25.
For guests hoping to experience several popular attractions without long standby waits, a day at Hollywood Studios can become another expensive one.

EPCOT's Lower Prices Still Add Up
EPCOT generally charges less for Multi Pass than Magic Kingdom or Hollywood Studios, but several October dates remain expensive.
On October 9, 10, 11, 12, 16, 17, and 24, Multi Pass reaches $32 per person.
That's $128 for a family of four.
Guests visiting October 13, 14, 19, 20, 21, or 22 can find lower pricing at $26 per person.
However, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind isn't included with Multi Pass. Guests wanting Single Pass access must pay another $19 to $22 per person.
Suddenly, EPCOT's cheaper option might not seem quite so affordable.

Animal Kingdom Has the Biggest Price Difference
Disney's Animal Kingdom offers the lowest Multi Pass prices, but guests should pay attention to their visiting dates.
On October 10, 11, 12, 16, and 17, the service reaches $29 per person, totaling $116 for four guests.
However, October 20 and 21 bring prices down to $17 per person.
That's just $68 for a family of four, representing a $48 difference.
Avatar Flight of Passage also offers separate Single Pass access for $15-$19.
Because Animal Kingdom has fewer attractions than Magic Kingdom, some families might decide that paying for Lightning Lane isn't necessary.

Should You Skip Lightning Lane This October?
Expensive Lightning Lane prices don't mean families must spend their entire vacation standing in lines.
A little planning could help guests avoid some of the worst waits without paying extra.
Consider these strategies:
-
Visit Magic Kingdom during Halloween party dates, when regular park hours end earlier, and some daytime crowds may be lighter.
-
Arrive early or stay until closing, when certain attractions may have shorter waits.
-
Visit popular rides during lunch or dinner hours.
-
Take an afternoon break before returning for evening attractions.
-
Use My Disney Experience to monitor wait times.
-
Prioritize your family's favorite attractions instead of trying to experience everything.
Lightning Lane can still make sense for guests who value convenience. However, October's prices make it worthwhile to compare your options before purchasing.
For a family of four, skipping Multi Pass on an expensive day could keep more than $150 in their vacation budget.
