Disneyland guests expect Jungle Cruise to deliver plenty of unexpected moments, but they're usually part of the show.
One recent group got something very different.
Shortly after leaving the loading dock, their Jungle Cruise boat became stuck and couldn't continue through the attraction. Cast Members attempted to solve the problem, but the vessel wasn't going anywhere.
Eventually, the guests had to abandon their boat entirely.
Rather than returning to the dock on the same vessel, passengers climbed onto another Jungle Cruise boat before finally continuing their journey.
And thanks to Instagram, Disney fans got a look at the unusual situation.
Guests Forced to Switch Boats at Disneyland
Guest Paige Bryant shared clips from the incident on Instagram and explained what happened.
According to Bryant, the boat derailed shortly after the group departed the dock. Cast Members tried towing the vessel, but those efforts weren't successful.
At that point, Disney needed to get the passengers off the immobilized boat.

That's a little more complicated on Jungle Cruise than it would be on many Disneyland attractions.
Guests couldn't simply get out of the vehicle and follow an evacuation walkway. They were sitting inside a boat surrounded by water.
The solution involved bringing another Jungle Cruise boat alongside the first vessel. Guests then climbed from their stranded boat onto the other one.
Despite the strange circumstances, Bryant praised the Cast Members and crew involved in the response.
Even better, the guests didn't lose their chance to experience the attraction.
After making it safely onto another boat, they continued through Jungle Cruise normally. The affected passengers also reportedly received a free Lightning Lane pass because of the disruption.
A Different Kind of Jungle Cruise Breakdown
The incident raises an obvious question: How does a boat “derail?”
Jungle Cruise isn't built like a traditional tracked attraction. The boats travel through waterways using a propulsion system, while skippers handle the steering.
However, there is still a guidance system involved in keeping the boats where they need to be.
The vessel reportedly became stuck after coming out of that guided path near the dock.
Once Disney couldn't successfully tow it free, transferring passengers to another vessel became necessary.
For those aboard, the technical explanation probably wasn't their biggest concern. They had boarded expecting an easygoing trip through the jungle and suddenly found themselves climbing between boats.
Fortunately, the supplied report doesn't indicate that anyone was injured.
Jungle Cruise Has Seen Trouble on the Water Before
The Disneyland incident isn't the first unusual problem involving a Jungle Cruise boat.
In 2020, another incident made headlines at Walt Disney World when a Jungle Cruise vessel at Magic Kingdom took on water and sank.
This latest situation was considerably different. The Disneyland boat became immobilized, and guests transferred onto another vessel rather than ending up standing in water.
Nevertheless, the incident created an evacuation few guests probably imagined experiencing when they entered Disneyland that day.
Jungle Cruise has always relied on the idea that guests are setting out on an unpredictable expedition. Skippers joke their way through close encounters, questionable decisions, and one of Disney's most famous waterfalls.
Normally, everyone knows those dangers are part of the act.
This time, the boat trouble wasn't scripted.
The passengers ultimately made it onto another vessel, completed their Jungle Cruise experience, and received a Lightning Lane pass for their trouble.
But they also walked away with something Disney couldn't have planned: a Jungle Cruise story that's considerably more unusual than the standard trip around the river.
