On Sunday, April 27, 2025, Disneyland Resort experienced an unexpected parking crisis when the Mickey & Friends Parking Structure reached full capacity for the first time since the COVID-19 closures.
The Mickey & Friends Parking Structure serves as the main parking garage for Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure Park, and Downtown Disney. While it is the most used parking area, Disneyland Resort also provides alternative parking options at the Pixar Pals Parking Structure and the Toy Story Parking Area, which is further down the road. Guests can take a free shuttle or tram or walk to the parks from these locations.
According to reports from WDWNT, the Mickey & Friends Parking Structure hit capacity early on Sunday, leaving many guests frustrated. Some were redirected to the Toy Story Parking Area, while others found themselves stuck in long lines at Mickey & Friends. Two lines of cars reportedly “went all the way back to Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa on the Disneyland Drive side and back to the Freeway exit on the Interstate 5 side.”
It is unclear how long it took for guests waiting in the long line to be redirected to other parking areas, like Pixar Pals or Toy Story. However, as of Monday, April 28, the Mickey & Friends Parking Structure had not reached capacity again.
Parking at Disneyland Resort can be quite expensive, ranging from $35 per car or motorcycle to $40 for oversized vehicles and $45 for buses or vehicles with extended trailers, which are only accommodated at the Toy Story Parking Area. Preferred parking is available for $55, though availability is limited and not guaranteed. Disneyland Resort parking areas open one hour before the parks themselves, and guests are encouraged to arrive early to ensure they can secure a parking spot.
