Checking out at a Disneyland Paris Resort shop or restaurant is about to feel like part of the attraction, thanks to a first-of-its-kind installation of themed payment terminals rolling out across both theme parks at the European Disney vacation destination this month.
Custom Payment Terminals Come to Disneyland Paris
On Tuesday, WDWNT reported that Disneyland Paris Resort had begun installing custom-designed payment processing terminals at dining and merchandise locations throughout Disneyland Park and Disney Adventure World, formerly known as Walt Disney Studios Park. The hardware was developed in collaboration with Visa, an official resort partner, making Disneyland Paris Resort the first Disney park worldwide to deploy location-specific, themed payment terminals.
Walt Disney Imagineering, Maintenance, Information Technology, Central Workshops, and Corporate Alliances & Partnerships all contributed to bringing the ten distinct designs to life. Each design is specific to the land or world where the terminal is installed, with both the physical casing and the digital screen display customized to match the surrounding themed environment. The casings themselves were crafted from resin and aluminum.
Ten Designs, Each Tied to Its Location
The design work behind the terminals goes well beyond a logo swap. In Worlds of Pixar at Disney Adventure World, the Luxo ball appears on both the terminal casing and the screen. Avengers Campus features silver superhero-inspired hardware with the Avengers logo on the display. The terminals in Fantasyland at Disneyland Park are physically sculpted in the shape of a crown.
The theming carries through to the Visa signage at each register as well. World of Frozen uses the crocus flower as its identifying symbol. Adventureland features a treasure chest on both the plaques and the screens. At La Place de Rémy, a rat nibbling cheese appears on the terminal design.
When the Full Rollout Completes
More than 500 payment terminals across dining and shopping locations at Disneyland Park and Disney Adventure World are being updated with the new themed hardware and screen designs. Disneyland Paris Resort expects the full installation to be complete by the end of August 2026.
Whether Walt Disney World Resort or Disneyland Resort is developing similar programs in partnership with Visa hasn't been confirmed by either destination.
