Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park are set to delay opening by 30 minutes on Sunday, August 2, 2026, for the annual CHOC Walk in the Park fundraiser, turning away families arriving for the normal summer opening hours.
The Southern California Disney parks typically open at 8:00 a.m. during the summer, but will start admitting guests at 8:30 a.m. on August 2 instead. Families arriving at the usual time won’t gain entry until the adjusted opening time.
CHOC Walk Takes Over the Disney Parks
Rady Children’s Health Orange County announced the fundraising event will use both Disneyland Resort theme parks before public opening for a three-mile walk through The Happiest Place on Earth.

Participation Requirements
Guests ages three and up must pay a $10 registration fee and raise at least $125 for Rady Children’s Health Orange County. Children two and under can participate for free alongside older friends and family.
Participants who raise over $400 receive a free Disneyland Resort Park Hopper ticket valid for August 2 after the event.
The fundraiser supports Rady Children’s Health Orange County, “a nonprofit healthcare system dedicated to providing pioneering, compassionate, and customized care for infants, children, adolescents, teens, and young adults.”
Disneyland Resort has hosted the CHOC Walk since 1990, following Walt Disney’s legacy of supporting the local children’s hospital. Walt served on the founding board and helped secure funding for what was then known as the Children’s Hospital of Orange County.
Operating Hours Shift
Disneyland Resort hasn’t released the August 2026 operational calendar yet, but the parks historically open later on CHOC Walk days. Guests should expect an 8:30 a.m. opening instead of the typical 8:00 a.m. summer start time.
