Disneyland Resort is known for its magical atmosphere, but for some guests last weekend, the experience was less than enchanting. The Southern California sun was blazing, and guests found themselves waiting in long, stalled lines as Disneyland Resort‘s Toy Story Parking Area shuttle service experienced severe delays. This forced many to take a mile-long walk in the afternoon heat to get back to their cars.

The Toy Story Parking Area, located about a mile from the Disneyland Resort entrance, is a popular choice for many Disney Parks fans due to its typically convenient shuttle service. Last weekend, however, Disneyland Park, Downtown Disney, and Disney California Adventure Park guests were met with uncharacteristically long wait times as they lined up for the shuttle.

According to posts on social media, Disneyland Resort was down to about half of its usual shuttle buses, leading to serious transportation bottlenecks. Reddit user u/caren_with_a_c shared a photo of dozens of families waiting in the afternoon sun, with some guests reportedly waiting up to an hour to get a ride back to the parking lot. “Where are the buses??” the Disney Park guest captioned the photo.

Some Disney cast members reportedly advised guests to either wait for the shuttles, which had estimated wait times of 35 to 45 minutes or walk the mile back to their cars.

“We left at 6 pm yesterday,” u/hashbash72 commented. “The line was completely full. CM said it would be a 35 to 45 minute wait. They were encouraging people to walk to the lot.”

Others shared similar experiences, with some expressing frustration at what seemed to be a repeated issue with the shuttle service. “It’s never faster than just walking the mile to the parks,” said Reddit user u/EdmundCastle.

“We left the park at 1:15 and waited twenty minutes for the first bus to come!” u/Elegant-Square-6992 replied. “Then at Toy Story lot there was a huge line of people waiting to go to the park. Not sure what’s going on with the buses. 3 more came while we were getting on ours but the line was already out of control.”

Disneyland Resort continued operating its shuttle service, and the delays eventually cleared. However, for the guests who endured the mile walk, it was a hot, tiring end to an otherwise enjoyable day at the Happiest Place on Earth.
