Disneyland Resort is preparing for its upcoming 70th anniversary celebrations, and construction is underway. Crews have officially broken ground on a project honoring Sleeping Beauty Castle, one of the most iconic landmarks at Disneyland Park.
While Disneyland Resort’s official anniversary date isn’t until July 15, 2025, the celebrations will begin on May 16 and continue through the summer of 2026. Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park will be filled with new and returning entertainment offerings, exclusive food and beverages, themed merchandise, and special decorations.
As part of Disneyland70, several exciting entertainment experiences will debut at Disneyland Park. The “Celebrate Happy Cavalcade” will feature Duffy, ShellieMay, and their friends, while the “Tapestry of Happiness” projection show will be presented on “it’s a small world.” In addition, the Fantasyland attraction will unveil a final verse written by the late Sherman brothers and dolls inspired by Pixar’s Coco (2017). Returning entertainment includes the Wondrous Journeys fireworks and the Paint the Night electrical parade.
Over in Disney California Adventure Park, visitors will enjoy the all-new interactive “World of Color – Happiness” nighttime spectacular and Disneyland70-themed additions to Toy Story Midway Mania!. Also, the “Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration!” Parade will return.
The anniversary celebrations won’t end with entertainment. Disneyland Resort will also roll out new, 70th-anniversary-inspired merchandise and decorations across the parks. Beyond decorations, Sleeping Beauty Castle will receive its own special tribute sculpture in the esplanade between Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park.
With just weeks before Disneyland70 celebrations begin, construction walls have appeared in the esplanade, signaling the beginning of the Sleeping Beauty Castle sculpture project. According to WDWNT, these walls block most progress from guest view, but some signs of construction are visible.
Three large curved yellow supports now tower above the construction walls, rising from a hidden base. These supports will eventually form the skeleton of the 50-foot sculpture, which will pay tribute to Disneyland Park’s iconic castle. The completed display will include colorful glass panels and golden charms celebrating Disneyland Resort’s rich history.
Disneyland70 celebrations begin on May 16, 2025.
