Disney’s Hollywood Studios Confirms Multiple Attraction Closures Ahead of 2026 Overhaul

Disney’s Hollywood Studios is entering a new era, and with that comes some tough goodbyes. In 2026, several major attractions are shutting down — some permanently, others for extended reimaginings. Here’s what guests can expect as the park transforms for the future.

Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Revs Down

The beloved Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith is taking its final bow in early 2026. Disney plans to reintroduce the attraction later in the year with a Muppet-themed storyline centered around Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem.

The bones of the ride — its speed, inversions, and track — will remain untouched. But the vibe will shift dramatically, swapping classic rock for chaotic Muppet energy. Guests can expect new animatronics, colorful visuals, and plenty of Easter eggs for longtime fans of The Muppets.

Muppets Courtyard Becomes Monstropolis

The Muppets are also moving out of their longtime neighborhood near Grand Avenue. Muppets Courtyard closed this summer to make way for a Monsters, Inc. expansion that will bring Pixar’s Monstropolis to life.

The land will reportedly feature Disney’s first-ever suspended coaster, inspired by the film’s door scene, along with themed dining and interactive experiences. While fans are sad to lose MuppetVision*3D, Disney hopes the new addition will breathe life into one of the park’s quieter corners.

Animation Courtyard Overhaul

Another section under construction is Animation Courtyard, which is being transformed into a Walt Disney Studios-themed area. While Walt Disney Presents and The Little Mermaid: A Musical Adventure will remain open, the rest of the land is being rebuilt to include new experiences like a “Drawn to Wonderland” playground and updated Disney Junior offerings.

Disney hasn’t announced a reopening date yet, but the area is expected to welcome guests back sometime in 2026.

New Adventures for Smugglers Run

Over in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run will soon feature a brand-new mission starring The Mandalorian and Grogu. The update is scheduled to debut on May 22, 2026. While Disney hasn’t said whether a closure will be needed for the change, it’s something guests should keep an eye on when planning their spring vacations.

With four big closures — and even bigger projects on the way — 2026 will mark a bold new chapter for Hollywood Studios. The park is trading nostalgia for innovation, and it’s clear that Disney is setting the stage for an exciting future.
