Getting around Disney's Hollywood Studios just got a little trickier, as Walt Disney World Resort quietly begins reworking pavement along one of the theme park's most heavily trafficked paths.
Sunset Boulevard Sees New Barriers
According to a WDWNT report from September 2, Walt Disney World Resort has roped off a large stretch of Sunset Boulevard, the central walkway guests rely on to travel from Hollywood Boulevard to attractions like the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Rock ‘n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets, and Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After.
The roped-off area sits just outside the Once Upon A Time merchandise shop, where a noticeably darker patch of pavement suggests that fresh concrete was recently poured. Just beyond that section, crews have scored lines into another nearby stretch of walkway — a common early step before that area gets torn up and repaved as well.
Disney Stays Quiet, As Usual
True to form, Walt Disney World Resort hasn't publicly addressed this project, which tracks with how the company typically handles smaller infrastructure work. Whether Disney plans to continue this pavement replacement further down Sunset Boulevard to match the newly poured sections remains unknown. These kinds of walkway refurbishments are usually completed in phases, allowing Disney to limit disruption while keeping the finished path looking uniform.
Attractions Remain Unaffected
Despite the changes underfoot, guests shouldn't run into any issues accessing Sunset Boulevard's biggest draws. The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage continue operating as usual, and dining and shopping locations along the street, including Once Upon A Time, remain open — guests will just need to maneuver around the roped-off sections while walking through.
