Double Buyout Reported: Private Firms Strike Secretive Deals Across Disney World Parks

Private corporate events have been clearing Walt Disney World parks for after-hours business functions for years, and the practice tends to generate the most attention when guests discover the early closure after their plans are already locked in rather than before.

The mechanics are always the same: a company pays for exclusive access to a park during the evening hours, the park closes to regular guests earlier than its standard schedule, and anyone who had planned their day around the full operating window discovers the change with less runway to adjust than they would have liked.

Two such closures are coming up in May and June 2026 at different parks, and the details of each are specific enough to affect trip planning in ways that depend entirely on what you had planned around those dates. Magic Kingdom closes to regular guests at 5:30 p.m. on May 13, a meaningful departure from its normal evening schedule. Disney's Hollywood Studios closes to regular guests at 6:00 p.m. on June 18, three hours before its usual 9:00 p.m. close.

If either of those dates falls anywhere near your Walt Disney World trip, this is the article to read before you finalize anything.

Magic Kingdom on May 13: What Is Happening and Why

The May 13 early closure at Magic Kingdom is connected to the SAP Sapphire and ASUG Annual Conference, running May 11 through 13 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando. Conference organizers are hosting a private “Celebration Night at Magic Kingdom” for attendees, with exclusive park access running from approximately 7:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. The private event includes exclusive access to attractions and character experiences, and The Dave Matthews Band is scheduled to perform in front of Cinderella Castle as the evening's headline entertainment.

Regular guests cannot attend. The private event operates entirely outside Disney's standard ticketing system. Guests with park tickets for May 13 can visit Magic Kingdom during normal daytime hours and must exit by 5:30 p.m. The 5:30 p.m. close is confirmed and firm.

The thing that makes this closure particularly significant is what it cuts out. Magic Kingdom's evening programming is not an optional layer of the experience for a lot of guests. Happily Ever After, the nighttime spectacular that runs in front of Cinderella Castle, is one of the most emotionally resonant theme park shows Disney produces, and for a meaningful portion of Magic Kingdom visitors it is the reason they stay until close. A 5:30 p.m. early exit means none of that is available on May 13. No fireworks. No nighttime parade. No after-dark park atmosphere. For guests who built their Magic Kingdom day specifically around the evening entertainment, this is a date to swap out of the itinerary if at all possible.

If swapping is not possible, there are alternatives worth considering for the May 13 evening. EPCOT presents Luminous: The Symphony of Us over World Showcase Lagoon, which pairs naturally with a World Showcase dinner and provides a genuine nighttime Disney entertainment experience. Disney's Hollywood Studios offers Fantasmic! on select evenings. Neither is a like-for-like substitute for Happily Ever After, but both can anchor a May 13 evening without leaving guests at loose ends after 5:30 p.m.

There is also a case to be made for visiting Magic Kingdom on May 13 specifically rather than avoiding it. Early closure dates at Walt Disney World consistently produce lighter daytime crowds because guests who prioritize the evening entertainment tend to reschedule when they learn the park closes at 5:30 p.m. The result is a park day with notably shorter wait times for guests who are primarily there to ride attractions. If your Magic Kingdom priorities are ride-focused rather than fireworks-focused, May 13 may actually be one of the better days to go during mid-May.

Hollywood Studios on June 18: The Details

Disney's Hollywood Studios will close to regular guests at 6:00 p.m. on June 18, 2026. The event clearing the park is hosted by SHRM, the Society for Human Resource Management, as part of the SHRM26 annual conference. Conference attendees will have exclusive park access from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. for an after-hours networking event.

The full operating picture at Walt Disney World on June 18, 2026 is as follows. Magic Kingdom is open 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. with early entry at 8:30 a.m. EPCOT is open 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. with early entry at 8:30 a.m. and an After Hours special ticketed event running 9:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Disney's Animal Kingdom is open 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. with early entry at 7:30 a.m. Disney's Hollywood Studios is open 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. with early entry at 8:30 a.m.

For guests with Hollywood Studios plans on June 18, the most important adjustment is to structure the day as a morning and afternoon experience rather than building toward an evening at the park. The closure hits a point in the day when many guests would normally be heading into the park's strongest evening programming window. Guests looking for evening entertainment on June 18 have strong options across the resort, with Magic Kingdom running until 10:00 p.m. and EPCOT until 9:00 p.m. on the same date.

What to Do With This Information Right Now

Both closures follow a pattern that experienced Walt Disney World guests recognize. The park operates normally during its daytime hours. The impact is concentrated entirely in the evening. Guests who prioritize rides and daytime experiences over evening entertainment may find early closure dates work in their favor due to lighter crowds. Guests who planned specifically around the evening programming need to either adjust their park assignment for that day or build an alternative evening plan.

For anyone with a multi-day Walt Disney World trip that includes May 13 or June 18, the cleanest fix is to move that park to a different day in the itinerary. For guests whose trip timing is fixed, structuring those days as morning and early afternoon park visits and planning the evening around a different park or a resort dining experience is the practical path forward.

Dining reservations inside either park after the early close time need to be moved now, not the week before travel.

Our Walt Disney World park hours and event calendar guide is kept current throughout the season and covers early closures, private events, and schedule changes as they are confirmed. Check it before you finalize your trip plans, verify the hours on every day of your itinerary, and make any adjustments while your options are still open.
