Disney ‘Toy Story’ Attractions Officially Getting Replaced by ‘Frozen’

Buzz Lightyear and Woody have been missing from the LEGO Store at the Downtown Disney District since February. This week, it became clear they're not coming back.

The LEGO statues of the two beloved Toy Story (1995) characters had stood outside the LEGO Store at Disneyland Resort's Downtown Disney District since the shop opened in 2001. When they disappeared in February 2026, the initial hope was that the figures had simply been pulled for cleaning or repair. That optimism faded quickly when their themed backdrop and Buzz's rocket were removed shortly after, suggesting something more permanent was underway.

This week confirmed it.

Frozen (2013) Moves In

On April 20, WDWNT reported that gold and yellow frames constructed from oversized LEGO bricks had appeared around several exterior windows at the Downtown Disney District store, positioned near where Buzz and Woody once greeted guests. Inside one of the frames sits a Frozen (2013) logo built from blue and white bricks — a strong indicator that statues of characters from the Disney Princess film are being prepared for the space.

Disneyland Resort and the LEGO Store have not announced which characters will take shape outside the shop, but Anna, Elsa, and Olaf are the most likely candidates given their prominence in the Walt Disney Animation Studios franchise.

Construction walls are still up around portions of the exterior of the Downtown Disney District merchandise location, including a former Beauty and the Beast (1991) display area. The large statue of Prince Phillip battling Maleficent atop the building was restored earlier this year and remains in place. The LEGO Store itself is open throughout the ongoing refurbishment.
