EPCOT Closes Mexico Area to Guests, Effective Immediately

Walt Disney World Resort has closed one of the main entrances to the Mexico Pavilion at EPCOT, restricting guest access to the popular World Showcase attraction.

As of Tuesday, February 10, the left entrance to the pyramid structure housing Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros, San Angel Inn Restaurante, and Mexico-themed merchandise shops is blocked by construction barriers.

WDWNT reported Tuesday that gray metal scaffolding and scrim now surround the closed doorway. Two large support beams sit behind a sign inside the pavilion that reads “please use an alternate exit.”

A beige scrim covering a large hole in the pyramid's exterior suggests crews are performing ductwork or similar maintenance. The material is color-matched to the pyramid structure. The Aztec-inspired carvings and exterior paintwork appear untouched by the work.

The closure affects the left side of the building when facing it from the World Showcase promenade. Disney Park guests can still access the pavilion's interior through the right-side entrance and exit via the left side once inside.

No Timeline Announced

Walt Disney World Resort has not commented publicly on the maintenance project or provided a completion timeline. The resort typically handles minor refurbishment work without announcements or published schedules.

For now, EPCOT guests visiting the Mexico Pavilion should plan to use only the right-side entrance when facing the pyramid from World Showcase. The partial closure may create congestion at the single operating doorway during peak park hours, particularly around meal times when San Angel Inn sees heavy traffic.
