Disney Makes Stressful Parking Change for EPCOT Guests, Effective Immediately

Walt Disney World Resort has implemented a significant change for guests driving to EPCOT, closing a large portion of the park’s parking lot for resurfacing work. While Disney hasn’t shared details publicly about the project, guests were met with the unexpected closures when they arrived at the second Central Florida Disney park this week.

EPCOT offers several ways for guests to reach the park. Locals or visitors staying at third-party hotels can park and walk or take a tram to the entrance. Guests staying at Disney Resort hotels have additional options, including buses, watercraft transportation, the Monorail, the Disney Skyliner, or even walking to one of EPCOT’s two entrances: the main World Celebration gate or the International Gateway near the France Pavilion in the World Showcase.

However, those who rely on driving to the park will face some challenges in the coming weeks. On August 26, WDWNT reported that crews were actively resurfacing the asphalt on hundreds of parking spaces in EPCOT. On Tuesday, Disney cast members blocked the Moana section with cones and other barricades, preventing guests from parking there.

The ongoing repavement has erased existing painted parking lines. Once the new asphalt dries, crews will repaint the lines in the Moana section and other affected areas. Disney Fanatic has not received information on when these closed parking spaces will reopen to guests.

It is also unclear whether Disney plans to resurface additional sections of EPCOT’s massive parking area, which is divided into two main sections: Earth and Space. The Earth lot includes Moana, Heihei, Crush, and Dory areas, while the Space lot includes Wall-E, Eve, Gamora, and Rocket areas.

Walt Disney World Resort guests wishing to avoid the parking lot closures can park at the Transportation & Ticket Center (TTC) and take the Monorail directly to EPCOT.
