Walt Disney World Resort quietly introduced a small but meaningful change to EPCOT this week, offering guests a new addition in the heart of the recently completed World Celebration neighborhood. The update comes after months of frustration from visitors who felt the park’s long-awaited redesign fell short of expectations following years of construction, delays, and canceled projects.

Many fans have been openly critical of the area that replaced Future World and Innoventions, particularly the event facility known as CommuniCore Hall and its outdoor Plaza. Some have described it as lacking personality, and repeated issues with lighting elements and walkway repairs have only fueled the conversation. While Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana was well-received, Disney Park guests continued to express disappointment that the most anticipated part of EPCOT’s years-long refurbishment—a reimagining of Spaceship Earth—never materialized.
@DisneyParks communicore hall/plaza is a college cafeteria, Moana is a low budget cheap splash pad, rain forest cafe is far more impressive and creative, creations is a target/Apple Store and connections is an airport foodcourt! Should have left it alone

Though a complete overhaul of the area is not expected anytime soon, EPCOT has introduced a new addition designed specifically to support guests’ needs. According to a recent report from WDWNT, at least nine new backless benches have been placed along a walkway between CommuniCore Hall and Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana. The benches are positioned under trees and greenery, offering shade for part of the day and creating a small relief area in a part of the park that has long needed more seating.

Outdoor seating is consistently one of the most common requests across Walt Disney World Resort, especially in high-traffic areas where guests often need a break from the heat. While EPCOT is the first to receive this update, it remains to be seen whether similar additions will appear at Magic Kingdom Park, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, or Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park.
