Universal Orlando Guest Harassed for Speaking Spanish at Florida Theme Park

A guest at Universal Orlando Resort says she was harassed for speaking Spanish while visiting the park’s newest theme park, Universal Epic Universe. The incident came to light after the guest shared her experience in a video posted on social media.

Universal Epic Universe is the latest addition to the Universal Orlando Resort family, joining Universal Studios Florida and Universal Islands of Adventure. The park features five immersive lands: Celestial Park, SUPER NINTENDO WORLD, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic, Dark Universe, and How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk.

The incident occurred just months after the park opened, following a tragic accident on September 17 in which 32-year-old Kevin Rodriguez Zavala was found unresponsive on Stardust Racers, a roller coaster in Celestial Park. Investigators determined that Zavala died of multiple blunt force trauma injuries after blacking out during the ride. Stardust Racers reopened on October 4, 2025, after Universal updated boarding requirements for several attractions.

In the latest controversy, Instagram user @opinometromx shared a video showing a woman speaking Spanish while waiting in line for Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge in SUPER NINTENDO WORLD. Another guest can be heard yelling at the woman and her travel partner for not speaking English.

“Watch your f**king mouth,” the guest yelled. “…You can’t even speak English, you f**king immigrant.”

It remains unclear what occurred before and after the video was filmed, as well as whether the guest who yelled faced any consequences.
