The ceremonial breaking of a sake barrel and rhythmic pounding of Japanese drums heralded the opening of Morimoto Asia Tuesday the 29th of October. The media event sported stunning culinary displays including a collaborative sushi-making activity with celebrity chef Masaharu Morimoto and Mickey Mouse where they constructed a 60-foot long California roll.

The Iron chef was all smiles and stated “I believe that food has the power to bring people together and these are some of my favorite dishes from all over Asia,” “My team and I are so excited to welcome everyone to Morimoto Asia!”

Morimoto Asia is not so much a restaurant as a 2-level dining showplace with an almost stage-like view of the kitchen where guests can watch the preparation of delicious pan-Asian food. Delicate but dramatic lighting fixtures seemingly drip from the ceiling down to the main dining area. Walls are decorated with glowing Japanese script and the second floor is reminiscent of a bottling company with hundreds of glass bottle lighting fixtures suspended overhead. Sushi bar, lounge and cocktail seating are available and the design spectacle is further punctuated by a soaring staircase and bar that’s upward of 250 feet linking the two levels together.

Morimoto Asia is now offering dinner service beginning at 5pm each day. Scroll down to see more photos and a full menu.
