In just a few weeks, Disney’s Hollywood Studios will add two new live shows to its entertainment lineup. Both will officially open to all guests on May 27, 2025, but Cast Members will have the chance to preview them in the days leading up to the debut.
Here’s a closer look at the two productions and how Disney is preparing to introduce them.
Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After
A brand-new show focusing on Disney’s most memorable villains is coming to Sunset Showcase. Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After will feature appearances from characters like Cruella de Vil, Maleficent, and Captain Hook, set against the backdrop of the magic mirror.
This 40-minute performance will blend music, dance, and live-action storytelling, culminating in a moment where the audience helps determine which villain has been the most unfairly treated.
This experience will add a darker, theatrical twist to Sunset Boulevard, perfectly complementing nearby attractions like Tower of Terror.
The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure
Replacing the former Voyage of the Little Mermaid show, Disney will unveil The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure. This newly designed production will incorporate all-new sets, effects, and staging.
While it will stay true to the beloved story of Ariel’s wish to join the human world, it will feature updated technology and a refreshed theater. Familiar moments like Ariel’s encounters with King Triton and Ursula will still be part of the adventure, offering both nostalgia and a new level of immersion.
This production was initially planned for a fall opening but will now be ready for guests by late May.
Cast Member Preview Dates
Disney has scheduled Cast Member previews for both shows to help prepare for the official opening. Preview dates for Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After are currently set for May 21–23. The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure previews will follow on May 24–26.
While dates can always change, this gives Cast Members a chance to experience and provide feedback before guests arrive.
With live entertainment making a strong comeback at Hollywood Studios, these two shows are poised to become must-see additions for Disney visitors in 2025.
