There’s always a chill in the air when Halloween Horror Nights rolls around, but this year’s vibe feels a little… different. Sure, the scares are still there. The fog still rolls in. But longtime fans can’t help but wonder—where did the classic Universal Monsters go?
Let’s dive into what we know so far and why it has some fans spooked (and not in a good way).

Where Are the Monsters?
Universal has revealed several scare zones for this year’s event, packed with fresh, eerie concepts. One standout is The Origins of Horror, which transforms a lush conservatory into a twisted garden filled with vines, crows, and creeping gargoyles.
Other scare zones include Masquerade: Dance with Death and Mutations: Toxic Twenties, which feature unique, stylized horror themes that lean more experimental. They’re creepy and creative… but they don’t scream classic.
Missing from the lineup so far? The Universal Monster gang—no Dracula, no Frankenstein, no Creature from the Black Lagoon lurking through the fog.

Universal’s New Monsters Take the Stage
As of now, Universal has confirmed ten haunted houses for this year, with eight officially announced. Here’s what we’re walking into:
-
Fallout – Inspired by the hit Prime Video series, this house drops you into Vault 33 and beyond.
-
Jason Universe – A bloody walk through the world of Friday the 13th.
-
Terrifier – Art the Clown brings his gore-soaked chaos to life.
-
Dolls: Let’s Play Dead – Dollhouses have never been this disturbing.
-
Gálkn: Monsters of the North – A terrifying legend comes to life in a house steeped in Nordic horror.
-
Grave of Flesh – Disgusting, grotesque, and definitely not for the squeamish.
-
Hatchet and Chains: Demon Bounty Hunters – A demonic Western nightmare full of saws and screams.
That leaves two more houses still under wraps.
While Universal confirmed that Five Nights at Freddy’s will appear at the event, it hasn’t been listed as a house—just “a whole new way” to experience Freddy Fazbear and friends.
But what’s glaringly absent across the board? The monsters that helped build Universal’s horror legacy.

No Dracula? Mummy? Frankenstein? What Gives?
Year after year, the Universal Monsters have been a staple at Halloween Horror Nights. They’ve always had a presence, from massive houses to elaborate scare zones. But in 2025? Not even a whisper.
That’s sparked serious speculation. Could one of the two unannounced houses be a secret monster tribute? Or is Universal planning to sneak them into a scare zone instead? Some fans wonder if they’ve been shelved altogether in favor of trending IPs like Fallout and Terrifier.
It’s starting to feel like the old guard might be slipping into the shadows.

Final Scare or Final Goodbye?
Here’s what could be going down:
-
Surprise Save – That final house announcement could still bring back the monsters for one last hurrah.
-
Scare Zone Switch – Maybe they’re not getting a house… but they could be waiting in the streets.
-
End of an Era – Universal may be leaving the classics behind to keep things modern and IP-heavy.
Whatever the case, the absence of Dracula and his terrifying pals is being felt. Whether Universal delivers a last-minute monster mash or quietly retires them remains to be seen.
Until then, it’s shaping up to be a Halloween Horror Nights dominated by new nightmares—and a haunting question: are the icons that started it all gone for good?
