Not only did the Disney Channel entertain millions of kids worldwide, it also managed to spawn countless celebrities, ranging from pop sensations like Miley Cyrus and Olivia Rodrigo to stars of movies and TV shows like Zendeya and Selena Gomez.
However, it’s not often that a former child star, Disney or not, enters the world of politics, with a former side character from a beloved series becoming a crucial part of the Trump campaign team.

Fans of the Disney Channel may recognize Trump’s newest head of communications, Caroline Sunshine, who portrayed European exchange student Tinka Hessenheffer on the Disney Channel original series Shake It Up. This dance-themed show, which ran from 2010 to 2013, was one of the channel’s most popular shows.
Sunshine starred in several episodes alongside series leads Zendeya and Bella Thorne, two young child stars who managed to carve out a career for themselves post-Disney.
Before landing the Disney job, Sunshine acted in various commercials and other small projects.
People reacted to the news on social media, with a post going viral on Twitter/X.

Sunshine first joined the world of politics in 2018, working for the Trump campaign as an intern. Later, Sunshine received a full-time job with the Trump campaign.
In February 2023, Sunshine was hired as the press secretary and communications director for Indiana Governor Eric Doden. In late 2023, Sunshine became the press secretary for Vivek Ramaswamy’s 2024 presidential campaign.
A recent clip taken from Fox News shows Sunshine criticizing Joe Biden’s presidency.
