WDWNT reported on Sunday that the wooden register counter has returned to The Darkroom following a recent reconfiguration of the popular gift shop. Photos shared by the outlet show both Disney cast members and theme park guests actively using the checkout station once again.
The counter's design leans into an Art Deco aesthetic, featuring gray and black tones paired with finished wood that matches the shop's overall vintage camera-inspired look. It sits near the store's main entrance along Hollywood Boulevard, the entry point into Disney's Hollywood Studios.
A Second Checkout Station Remains Absent
Despite this return, The Darkroom is still missing another full-sized wooden register that once occupied a separate section of the sprawling gift shop. Without it, guests browsing for Disney Trading Pins, Mickey or Minnie Mouse ears, MagicBands, and other souvenirs may find themselves waiting longer to check out.
Walt Disney World Resort hasn't commented publicly on the changes happening inside The Darkroom, nor has the company indicated whether the second checkout counter will eventually return. That silence tracks with how Disney typically handles smaller updates that don't lead to closures or significantly disrupt the guest experience.
