Casting is well underway for HBO’s Harry Potter television series, with more than 20 actors now confirmed. Among the names are John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, and Arabella Stanton, Alastair Stout, and Dominic McLaughlin as Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley, and Harry Potter, respectively.
But one major role is still unknown: Tom Riddle/Lord Voldemort.

According to a report from Redanian Intelligence, the actor playing the dark wizard has already been selected, but HBO reportedly plans to keep the casting secret until the show premieres. There’s no official release date for the series yet, so it may be a while before fans find out who is stepping into the role played by Ralph Fiennes in the films.
Meanwhile, another Harry Potter project has confirmed its own Voldemort. Audible’s Harry Potter: The Full-Cast Audio Editions has cast Matthew Macfadyen in the role. Macfadyen, best known for Pride & Prejudice (2005) and more recently Deadpool & Wolverine (2024), will voice the dark wizard in the new audiobook series.
