While Tom Holland’s Spider-Man is still the face of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in live-action, a brand-new series with a new actor playing the titular wall-crawler will offer a fresh twist on Peter Parker’s journey—one that has fans revisiting the hero’s roots.
The world’s favorite wall-crawler is swinging back into action with the animated series Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, and its trailer has just landed.
Scheduled to debut on Disney+ on January 29, 2025, the series is officially part of the MCU’s sprawling Phase Five. With its vibrant animation style paying homage to early Spider-Man comic book art, the show revisits Peter Parker’s origin story—but in a timeline that reimagines his mentor as Norman Osborn instead of Tony Stark. As such, this alternate-universe premise will undoubtedly be compared to Marvel’s What If…? series.

In Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, Hudson Thames lends his voice to the titular hero, reprising the role he previously played in What If…? This makes Thames the first actor to return as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in animation following Jake Johnson in the Spider-Verse movies.
Other returning stars in the new series include Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin, giving fans even more reasons to tune in.
Disney+‘s official description teases: “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is an animated series that follows Peter Parker on his way to becoming a hero, with a journey unlike we’ve ever seen and a style that celebrates the character’s early comic book roots.” The nostalgia-driven design is set to resonate with longtime fans while introducing younger audiences to a new take on the beloved character.
With ten episodes lined up for its first season and a second season already in development, Marvel’s animated exploration of Spider-Man’s origins has plenty of room to delve into the character’s rich legacy. Whether you’re a fan of the comics or the blockbuster movies, this series promises to weave something new into the web of Peter Parker’s story.
Fans are counting down the days to January 29, eager to see how Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man fits into the MCU puzzle.
