Jeannie Epper, a performer, stuntwoman, and cast member, has passed away. Epper was 83 and died of natural causes at her home in California. Epper worked on some of the most popular and groundbreaking projects throughout the 1980s and 1990s, including the live-action Wonder Woman series, which ran from 1976 through 1979.

Epper served as a stunt double during the production of the show, working closely alongside superhero icon Lynda Carter. Per AP NewsEpper is considered one of the greatest at her craft, with publications deeming her “the greatest stuntwoman who ever lived.” Epper began her decades-long career as a stuntwoman when she was just 9 years old.

Epper followed a family filled with stunt performers and actors. Both Epper’s parents worked as Hollywood stunt doubles for years.

The character of Wonder Woman is one of the most recognized and culturally significant in the entire world. Spanning decades of television, film, and literature, Wonder Woman has become an icon and one of the world’s greatest fictional heroes, standing tall side by side with other legendary characters like Batman, Superman, Spider-Man, and Captain America.

Many women have donned the infamous red and blue costume over the years, with Gal Gadot starring in the most recent portrayal of Diana Prince on the big screen. Gadot played Wonder Woman in several films, including Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016), Wonder Woman and Justice League (2017), and the most recent Wonder Woman 1984 (2020).

This is where the story ends, for now, with the DC cinematic universe starting from scratch following the release of The Flash (2023). James Gunn is now at the helm of DC, launching several new projects and stories that will refocus the long list of characters and storylines found within DC comics.

At the time of publication, there has been no official confirmation as to who will portray Wonder Woman in this new universe, but speculation has run wild.
