Today, February 1, is the big day! “The Soul of Jazz: An American Adventure” is now open to guests at EPCOT. We’ll have more on the experience later today as our team is in EPCOT now checking out the new experience. In the meantime, we are learning that Jazz Legend, Louis Armstrong’s trumpet is on exhibit!
As shared by Disney Imagineer, Zach Riddley, on Instagram: “Today we are thrilled to debut “The Soul of Jazz: An American Adventure” at EPCOT in celebration of the first day of Black History Month. Our Imagineers are constantly searching for stories we can infuse into the themes of our parks – true history of people, places and movements that define global culture and celebrate the human experience. As we were assembling this exhibit one opportunity came to us that really got me excited. We were able to secure an incredible piece of American and jazz music legacy to feature in our exhibit – Louis Armstrong’s Selmer trumpet, on loan from the Louis Armstrong House Museum. If you look closely, you may even catch a glimpse of Louis Armstrong’s nickname engraved on the mouthpiece. I played trumpet in high school (not well, but enough to respect the talent required to be good) and it’s truly an honor to feature Mr. Armstrong’s original trumpet in our exhibit. Thank you to our team and our Guests who visit and enjoy our gallery exhibits as an authentic part of the storytelling of EPCOT.”
