‘The Little Mermaid’ To Leave Disney Park Property in Just a Few Weeks

Time is running out to experience a Little Mermaid (1989)-inspired attraction at Disney California Adventure Park. Jumpin' Jellyfish will disappear from the Southern California theme park in just over a month, with Disneyland Resort providing no confirmation about when the family-friendly ride will return.

Less Than Five Weeks Remain

Jumpin' Jellyfish operates for just 34 more days before entering indefinite refurbishment. Disneyland Resort confirmed the Paradise Gardens Park attraction will shut down on Monday, February 23, 2026, making Sunday, February 22, the final opportunity for Disney Park guests to ride.

The closure leaves a gap in Disney California Adventure Park's lineup of attractions suitable for young children. Jumpin' Jellyfish caters specifically to what Disney calls “little guppies”—guests too small for major thrill rides.

The parachute-style attraction loads guests into jellyfish-shaped vehicles that gently bounce upward to heights of 40 feet. The ride's name pays homage to one of Sebastian's most memorable lines from The Little Mermaid.

Reopening Date Unknown

Disneyland Resort's website calendar extends through March 3, 2026, showing zero operational hours for Jumpin' Jellyfish during that timeframe. No reopening date has been announced, and Disney hasn't explained what work necessitates the closure.

The lack of transparency means the February 23 shutdown could last weeks or stretch into months. Disneyland Resort families planning spring or early summer vacations have no guarantee that Jumpin' Jellyfish will be available during their visits.

Concurrent Disney California Adventure Closures

Jumpin' Jellyfish joins a growing list of Disney California Adventure Park attractions currently unavailable. Incredicoaster and Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind both closed January 5, 2026, for refurbishment, though both reopened before Jumpin' Jellyfish shut down. Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind returns January 23, followed by Incredicoaster on January 6.

Grizzly River Run also entered refurbishment on January 5 and won't reopen until at least March 3, 2026. The rapids ride traditionally closes during colder months for annual maintenance, but typically resumes operations before spring break crowds descend on Disneyland Resort.
