Kilimanjaro Safaris offers close encounters with wildlife on a simulated African savannah. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park guests can encounter giraffes, lions, hippos, rhinoceroses, cheetahs, emus, and hundreds of other animals that call the Harambe Wildlife Preserve home.

The Walt Disney World Resort theme parks are world-renowned as a family-friendly vacation destination. Though some thrill rides have height requirements and mild scary themes, everyone can enjoy most of Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park.

But wildlife is unpredictable; no matter how much Disney cast members try, they can’t avoid that guests might learn the facts of life on the Kilimanjaro Safaris or other animal experiences like the Maharajah Jungle Trek and Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail.

In the past, some Walt Disney World Resort guests have witnessed lions and other Kilimanjaro Safaris animals engaging in sexual intercourse as trucks drive by. A few years ago, one group of guests witnessed another display of Mother Nature on the Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park ride.

Redditor u/Tinkerbellado recently recalled a once-in-a-lifetime scene they witnessed while passing the Nile Crocodile enclosure. They described the incident after another Disney Parks fan asked about the “craziest things” guests saw on Kilimanjaro Safaris.

“A few years ago, I saw a rat bouncing around on top of the crocodiles like Waldo in MuppetVision,” the Disney Park guest wrote. “However, it was short-lived because one of the crocodiles opened its mouth and ate the rat.”

The Nile Crocodiles are some of the most violent animals on Kilimanjaro Safaris. They’re very territorial, and it’s not uncommon to see one missing a limb in a territorial dispute with another. Take a closer look next time you visit Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park!
