It’s July 1, and the Canada Area at EPCOT Is Forever Changed

Canada Day arrived at EPCOT with a ribbon-cutting: La Poutinerie is open for business!

The construction walls and rolling planters that have surrounded the former Refreshment Port building since January came down on Wednesday, and Walt Disney World Resort guests got their first unobstructed look at La Poutinerie — the Air Canada-sponsored Quick-Service restaurant that has permanently absorbed the former Refreshment Port footprint into the Canada World Showcase Pavilion.

WDWNT was among the first on the scene, sharing photos of the completed exterior alongside an early look at three menu items that confirm the new location is ready to feed curious EPCOT guests.

The menu puts poutine front and center in two distinct variations. The Québec: L'Authentique ($10.99) delivers the essential form — French fries, cheese curds, and brown gravy. The Montréal: Viande Fumée ($12.49) dresses that foundation up with smoked meat, pickles, and mustard gravy, nodding to one of Québec's most celebrated culinary contributions.

The Spiced Apple Mule ($14.50) blends frozen ginger beer with lime and spiced apple flavors and Iceberg Canadian Vodka. A non-alcoholic Spiced Apple Slushy offers the same flavor profile for guests skipping the spirits.

The End of an Era for Refreshment Port

Refreshment Port had been part of EPCOT's landscape for years, serving DOLE Whip, specialty poutines during seasonal festivals, and standard Disney park snacks near the World Celebration entrance to World Showcase. When it closed in January 2026, Walt Disney World Resort offered little explanation beyond routine refurbishment language. The full picture — that Air Canada had come on as a sponsor for a permanent replacement concept — didn't emerge until months later.

What makes the July 1 opening particularly fitting is that the Canada World Showcase Pavilion is now physically larger than ever, with its footprint extended into the space once occupied by Refreshment Port.

La Poutinerie is open most days from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., with current hours available on the Walt Disney World Resort website and the My Disney Experience app.
