Location Announced: Villains Land Wicked Expansion

Warning: Magic Kingdom is about to undergo some seriously evil changes—and some fans are more than ready for it. The new Villain’s Land location has been confirmed!

It’s no secret that Disney parks are constantly evolving, but what’s happening behind Big Thunder Mountain is on another level. With the wild terrain already cleared and major construction in motion, rumors are swirling about a full Villains Land in development. And it’s not just wishful thinking—this expansion looks like it could become one of the boldest changes in the park’s history.

What’s Going on Behind the Scenes

Aerial shots show that land behind Frontierland is being reshaped in a big way. While Disney hasn’t dropped official concept art just yet, insiders and fans have been piecing together clues that point toward a land where evil takes the spotlight. For decades, Disney fans have begged for a place where Maleficent, Ursula, and Hades could shine. Now, that wish might finally be coming true.

And if you’re thinking, “Sure, but isn’t Frontierland just fine the way it is?”—well, Disney apparently disagrees.

Say Goodbye to the Old Frontier

As part of this reimagining, several longtime attractions are closing for good. On July 7, 2025, Tom Sawyer Island, the Liberty Belle Riverboat, and parts of Rivers of America will permanently shut down. These experiences have been around since Magic Kingdom’s early days, so this is a big move.

Even the Walt Disney World Railroad will be affected, with its route shifting temporarily to skip Frontierland entirely. Trains will run only between Main Street and Fantasyland while construction continues.

It’s a lot of change—but the payoff could be huge.

What Could Be in Villains Land?

While Disney has been tight-lipped, fans and theme park insiders are buzzing about what might be in store:

  • A Maleficent roller coaster, with fire effects, fast speeds, and a descent into her cursed lair.

  • Villain-themed interactive shows, where guests might be challenged by Hades or tricked by Jafar in chaotic, hilarious ways.

  • A dark fantasy restaurant, potentially offering smoke-filled drinks and desserts shaped like cursed objects.

  • A magic mirror attraction, where you step into a swirling, mystical space that reveals a darker version of you. Creepy? Maybe. Cool? Absolutely.

These ideas aren’t confirmed yet, but they fit the tone and scale of what Disney seems to be building.

Magic Kingdom’s Future Feels… Wicked

This isn’t just a cool new land. It’s a major shift in tone for Magic Kingdom. Disney has always done villains well in small doses—but giving them their own land? That’s a bold move.

With the future looking darker (in the best way), fans might just start showing up for the bad guys. So the only real question is: who’s ready to embrace their wicked side?
