EPCOT Reopens Reimagined China Area on August 9

A summer-long refurbishment project at the Lotus Blossom Café in the China World Showcase Pavilion at EPCOT has reached its conclusion. Walt Disney World Resort guests returning to the Quick-Service dining location this weekend will find a noticeably brighter underfoot.

The Right Side Returns

WDWNT reported on August 9 that Walt Disney World Resort had overnight removed the rolling planters blocking the right-side indoor-outdoor dining area of the Lotus Blossom Café, revealing the completed refurbishment to EPCOT guests for the first time. The work wrapped up just over a month after that section closed in early July — the second half of a phased refurbishment that had already addressed the left side of the dining area earlier in the summer.

The most visible change is the flooring. The small, dark brown tiles that previously covered the right dining area have been replaced with larger, bright beige tiles — the same updated flooring that appeared on the left side when it reopened earlier this summer. The matching tile treatment creates a cohesive look across both dining areas that the previous flooring didn't provide.

Beyond the floors, the Lotus Blossom Café looks largely familiar. The same cross-shaped orange lights hang above the same rectangular tables and silver metal chairs, arranged in what appears to be the same configuration as before. Decorative elements throughout the space — the calligraphy panels, mosaic tiles, and teal ceiling trim — may have been cleaned and refreshed as part of the work, but the overall design hasn't changed.

Dining Continued Throughout

The Lotus Blossom Café kept serving Disney Park guests throughout both refurbishment closures this summer. During periods when each dining area was closed, Walt Disney World Resort supplemented seating by installing additional picnic tables and benches along the walkways throughout the China World Showcase Pavilion. Those supplemental seating arrangements were removed when the right-side dining area reopened.
